This will be my online journal as I dance with cancer. My intent is to have an easy way to keep my family and friends updated on the adventure. Some of it may not be pleasant as I will be as honest as possible. Please bear with me as I have nothing to hide.
It will be impossible to keep track of all of the encouraging words, prayers, the cards, notes and letters, or other acts of kindness towards me and my family as we work through this. To all of you I can only say, thank you from the depth of my soul. Your prayers and support are an invaluable contribution to beating this disease.
Healing begins in the mind. Rest assured that this is where my primary focus is and will be as I begin preparations. I am not angry that this has happened to me but am confident that my spiritual practice has me well prepared. An unexpected challenge perhaps, but one that, with your support, I can overcome.
Let the music begin…Tc

Tom, you are in my prayers and I will add you to my church prayer list, you have some great prayer warriors praying for you. Your trust in the Lord will be your shining beacon.
But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. Jeremiah 17:7

You’re now on my prayer list, too, Tom. Terrible way to get back in touch with you, but happy for the contact.

Tom and Mary,
We are praying for you too, and so are Jalayne and Jeff. We love you both (even though we don’t know you very well, Tom). Mary is such a precious friend and so we love you too. With God’s grace you will come through soaring through this! Just wanted you to know that there are others praying for you as well.

Tom,
Just like in your book, angels will be watching over you, Tom. Life’s challenges are many…prayer is powerful…hope is mighty. God will give you strength…we give you love.
Mary,
I’ll always remember the power of your love when Dad was at M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston. Now, I am sending you the same in return. The years have passed, but the power of our friendship returns, especially at times like now. Remember our pinky promise!
Love,
Val

Live Each Day
To The Fullest
Live each day to the fullest. Get the most from each hour, each day, and each age of your life. Then you can look forward with confidence and back without regrets.
Be yourself — but be your best self. Dare to be different and to follow your own star.
And don’t be afraid to be happy. Enjoy what is beautiful. Love with all your heart and soul. Believe that those you love, love you.
Forget what you have done for your friends, and remember what they have done for you. Disregard what the world owes you and concentrate on what you owe the world.
When you are faced with a decision, make the decision as wisely as possible — then forget it. The moment of absolute certainty never arrives.
And above all, remember that God helps those who help themselves. Act as everything depended on you and pray as if everything depended on God.

Tom and Mary,
We will be praying for you and your family. Our son shared elementary years with Lauren & we re-connected with Mary when she was teaching at Woodway. What a beautiful person she is; your family is special to us and although we don’t personally know you, please know we will cover you in prayers. God is good and kind and loving…..May His grace and mercy bring you peace during this “dance”. We love you all~
